It feels so good to say those words! And I am coming back full force too! I have some projects in the pipeline that I cannot wait to share with you but for now I have this beautiful session to share with you. It was so fitting that my first session back behind the camera was Lyla's annual session in her momma's wedding gown! I missed it last year due to my treatments, so I was extra excited to capture these moments.
This year Lyla was a little nervous so momma came prepare to hop into a few of her portraits. I know the feeling of not wanting to be in front of the camera, but if this past year has taught me anything it is that us momma's need to be in the picture. Take the selfie even if you don't feel perfect, or your hair is a mess. Hire the photographer, even if you didn't lose that 5 or 20 pounds you wanted. Make the memories and document it on film!
Every year Lyla's momma brings something special to add to her session...some of grandma's jewelry, her shoes, or her veil and she so sweetly talks to Lyla about the special person she is representing in her portraits.
As I see Lyla through my lens I see her in the future, her momma with happy tears in her eyes as she fastens the buttons on Lyla's wedding gown and again as she says a prayer over her daughter before she walks down the aisle. The two of them holding hands and sharing a laugh feeling excited, nervous and hopeful all at once.
But for now Lyla is still a sweet, shy, silly little 4 year old girl. Who enjoys tea parties and ice cream and hatching chickens.
The days are long, but the years are short...
Lyla at 1, 2, and 4...I hope you keep this tradition up Lyla. What a keepsake.
